Kidnapped Ese Oruru

The 13 year old was re-united with her mother today (Wednesday).

Both Ese and her mother, who caught up with her mother yesterday night, are billed to meet with the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, this morning.

They are billed for a 5PM flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt, en route Bayelsa State.

Force spokesperson, Bisi Kolawole, had yesterday told anxious journalists who waited for several hours at the Police Headquarters in Abuja that the inability of Ese’s parents to arrive on time led to the postponement of the exercise.

Ese was allegedly abducted eight months ago and moved to Kano for forced marriage.

She was freed on Monday night, following a directive by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mohammed Katsina.

Reports say Miss Oruru was allegedly abducted from her Bayelsa Home, and her parents, after trailing her to Kano, battled for months to have her back.

Kolawole made the confirmation today at a news briefing held at the force headquarters in Abuja.

The force PRO said at the briefing at which Ese’s mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru, was present that the girl would undergo a comprehensive physical examination.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered that a panel should be set up to find out why Ese’s rescue was delayed for more than five months.

Kolawole had confirmed during the briefing that Ese’s father, Charles had reported the matter to the police since August last year but noted that there were delays due to bureaucratic processes.
