Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is edging closer to a return from injury.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that the new head coach Arne Slot gave a positive update ahead of the club’s crucial Premier League clash against Leicester City.

Alexander-Arnold had been sidelined in recent weeks, casting doubt on his availability during the final stretch of a tense title race.

Slot confirmed during Friday’s press conference that the England international has resumed training with the first team.

He stated that Alexander-Arnold could feature on the bench for Sunday’s fixture if he passes final fitness tests.

“Trent is coming back from an injury, he trained with us yesterday and every time he plays with us and trains with us he shows his commitment,” Slot told reporters.

“He has worked so hard to be back already now, and the moment he is on the pitch he shows me what a great football player he is and how much he is involved in us trying to achieve our goals this season.”

Slot emphasized that the defender is not yet ready to start the game.

However, he hinted that a substitute role remains a possibility.

“If things go well today and tomorrow, he might be on the bench,” Slot added.

Alexander-Arnold’s return would boost Liverpool as they attempt to secure the Premier League title.

The Reds currently sit at the top of the table.

A win against relegation-threatened Leicester City, combined with a loss for Arsenal against Ipswich Town earlier in the day, would crown Liverpool champions.

This could happen with five matches still left to play in the season.

Liverpool’s campaign has been one of resilience, despite a managerial transition.

Arne Slot recently replaced long-time manager Jürgen Klopp, who earlier announced his decision to step down.

Slot has worked quickly to stabilize the squad.

He has overseen important contract renewals and managed player recoveries.

This week, Liverpool confirmed new two-year contracts for captain Virgil van Dijk and star forward Mohamed Salah.

These back-to-back renewals show the club’s determination to keep its core players intact.

Alexander-Arnold, however, is yet to extend his contract.

His current deal expires at the end of the 2024–25 season.

Speculation continues to grow over his potential move to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Reports suggest the Spanish giants are eager to land the right-back as part of their squad rebuild.

The Evening Standard named Alexander-Arnold as Madrid’s top defensive target for the summer.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Alexander-Arnold’s focus remains on Liverpool’s current campaign.

Slot praised his attitude and effort in training.

“His presence in training lifts the team, and his mentality remains top class,” the coach said.

Liverpool’s immediate priority is to finish the title race strongly.

Their next opponents, Leicester City, are fighting to avoid relegation.

The Foxes will be desperate to earn points on home turf.

However, Liverpool enters the match as strong favorites.

Team morale is high, especially with key players returning.

Whether Alexander-Arnold plays or not, his recovery strengthens the squad ahead of the season’s climax.

His return, combined with renewed contracts and firm leadership, signals Liverpool’s readiness for a new era under Arne Slot.
