Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio is currently facing legal action in Spain over his alleged involvement in the distribution of a sexually explicit video featuring a 16-year-old girl.

The incident according to media reports, dates back to June 2023, when Asencio, along with former youth teammates Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz, and Juan Rodríguez, were implicated in the recording and sharing of videos involving two young women, aged 16 and 18 at the time.

According to court documents, the videos were recorded without the consent of the individuals involved and subsequently shared via WhatsApp.

Asencio is specifically accused of soliciting the video from a teammate and forwarding it to another individual.

While he did not participate in the recording or the sexual acts, his alleged distribution of the video has led to charges under Spain’s criminal code, including the discovery and disclosure of secrets and possession of child pornography.

The court has rejected an appeal by Asencio to dismiss the case, affirming that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.

Meanwhile, if convicted, Asencio could face a prison sentence ranging from one to five years, depending on the specific charges and the court’s findings.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Asencio has continued to play for Real Madrid’s first team, making 22 appearances this season.

The club has not issued a public statement regarding the case.

The case has garnered significant media attention in Spain, with public scrutiny intensifying as the trial approaches.
