The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to education and healthcare during a recent visit to Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that on Monday, Mr. Obi visited the Anglican Hospital Diocese of Kubwa and the Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School, both located in Kubwa, Abuja.
During the visit, he made a financial donation of N10 million to each institution, bringing the total contribution to N20 million.
The visit was unannounced and sparked widespread excitement, particularly among the students of the school who were visibly thrilled to see the former Anambra State governor.
Videos circulating online show students surrounding Obi with cheers and appreciation, reflecting his enduring popularity, especially among young Nigerians.
His appearance in Abuja came less than 24 hours after he was seen at the Vatican City, where he attended the inauguration of Pope Leo.
Mr. Obi’s dual engagements one international and one domestic have further solidified his image as a leader deeply committed to service, compassion, and nation-building.
Over the years, Obi has earned a reputation for supporting institutions with direct impact on the welfare of ordinary Nigerians, especially in the areas of education and healthcare.
He has made similar donations across the country, often highlighting that investing in people is the most effective way to drive long-term national development.
The visit also comes at a time when political discussions surrounding the 2027 general elections are already emerging.
Reports from the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar suggest a possible alliance and a proposed vice-presidential offer to Obi.
However, Obi has responded by stressing that his primary mission remains fighting poverty, hunger, and corruption in Nigeria.
He stated that any political arrangement must be anchored on shared values and a unified vision for national progress, rather than mere power-sharing.
At both the hospital and the school, Mr. Obi encouraged staff and students to remain committed to their noble duties and assured them that Nigeria’s transformation must begin with improving essential services.
His generous donation is expected to help upgrade medical facilities and enhance educational infrastructure in Kubwa.
With this gesture, Peter Obi continues to show that leadership is not about occupying public office, but about being present where people need help the most.
