The Central Bank of Nigeria has again maintained the interest rate at 27.5 per cent in 2025.

This marks the second time the apex bank is holding the rate steady this year.

CBN Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, made the announcement in Abuja on Tuesday.

He addressed journalists shortly after the 300th Monetary Policy Committee meeting held in the capital.

Cardoso said the committee agreed unanimously to retain all monetary policy parameters without changes.

“The Committee was unanimous in its agreement to hold all parameters,” the CBN governor stated.

The decision follows six consecutive rate hikes carried out by the apex bank in 2024.

The MPC’s move appears to reflect a cautious approach in response to current economic conditions.

Analysts believe the bank may be waiting to observe inflation trends before any further adjustments.

CBN had embarked on aggressive rate hikes last year to tackle rising inflation and stabilise the naira.

The apex bank’s latest stance may signal a shift towards economic stability and policy patience.

Look forward to getting the full details, news on the way.
