A self-styled native doctor in Enugu State has been arrested for allegedly attempting to use a 13-year-old girl for money rituals, sparking widespread outrage in the southeastern state.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the suspect, whose name has not yet been released by the authorities, was apprehended in Ezeagu Local Government Area following what police officials described as a timely intervention that prevented a possible tragedy.
According to preliminary investigations, the alleged ritualist lured the minor under suspicious circumstances before concerned residents alerted the authorities.
Upon his arrest, a more horrifying discovery was made at the suspect’s residence, a hidden underground pit containing several human skulls.
The chilling find has reignited public concern about ritual killings in southeastern Nigeria, a region where similar incidents have become increasingly common.
Ritual-related crimes, particularly involving traditionalists and native doctors, have seen a troubling rise in recent years across states like Enugu, Anambra, and Imo.

Police spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that forensic teams have commenced evidence gathering at the scene while interrogations are ongoing.
“We are committed to unearthing the full extent of this operation and bringing everyone involved to book,” Ndukwe assured.
