NAF airstrikes decimate Boko Haram strongholds in Borno ahead of Eid festivities

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted precision airstrikes on key Boko Haram hideouts in Borno State.

Several terrorists were neutralised, and the insurgents’ logistics infrastructure was destroyed in the Operation, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

The strikes were executed just days before the Muslim festival of Eid-el-Kabir.

They were part of ongoing efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to eliminate terrorist threats in the Northeast.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement released on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

The airstrikes were carried out on June 5 and 6 in the Southern Tumbuns region of Borno State.

Specifically, they targeted Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia, known as strategic enclaves used by Boko Haram insurgents.

Gabkwet stated that the strikes were based on credible intelligence gathered from surveillance and ground reports.

He said the terrorists used the targeted areas for weapon storage and operational coordination.

NAF aircraft launched direct hits, destroying logistics structures and foiling potential attacks during the Eid period.

“Battle Damage Assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists,” Gabkwet said in the official statement.

He added that the destruction of logistics hubs significantly disrupted the group’s operational capabilities.

“This pre-emptive action demonstrates NAF’s commitment to protecting civilians and ensuring national security,” the statement read.

The Southern Tumbuns, near Lake Chad, is known for its difficult terrain and limited access.

The area has long served as a refuge for Boko Haram due to its isolation and cover.

However, NAF’s intensified aerial operations have steadily degraded insurgent presence in the region.

Residents have lived in fear of attacks, especially during festive periods like Eid.

These recent airstrikes are expected to restore confidence among civilians and displaced persons nearby.

Security forces hope to prevent any planned terror attacks during the Eid celebrations.

Military analysts commend NAF’s use of intelligence-led operations to strike terrorist camps accurately.

Joint efforts between the Nigerian Army and Air Force have improved outcomes under Operation HADIN KAI.

NAF now regularly uses surveillance drones and manned aircraft to identify and eliminate terrorist targets.

This strategy has weakened both Boko Haram and ISWAP operations in the region.

Meanwhile, a different crisis is brewing globally due to the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Thousands of companies across industries are laying off workers because of AI automation.

No sector appears immune to this wave of technological disruption sweeping through global markets.

Business owners are panicking, facing challenges adapting to rapid changes in technology and employment trends.

Experts advise exploring alternative income sources, especially those that offer payments in stronger currencies.

Many Nigerians are now seeking remote jobs that pay in U.S. dollars, even while living locally.

Some earn as much as $55,000 annually from international clients and online platforms.

This strategy offers financial security in a volatile economy driven by AI disruption and automation.

As challenges persist, Nigerians continue to adapt and seek opportunities for stability and progress.
