If Mr. Kalu Onwuka Kelechi, an indigene of Inyila Village in Ikwuano Local Government of Abia State, had the slightest incline that his involvement in the separatist movement will cost him his life and endanger that of his family, he wouldn’t have ventured into the campaign for the restoration of defunct Biafra Republic.

Kalu Onwuka Kelechi became a victim of Nigerian State high-handedness against members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

IPOB is known for leading a non-violent campaign for Biafra Republic restoration in the South-East region.

Investigation by News Band Newspaper revealed that Kalu Onwuka was killed after security forces invaded his village following gunmen attack at the divisional police station in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State in 2024.

A family source who doesn’t want to be quoted because of security reasons, told this medium that following the gunmen attack at the police divisional headquarters, Nigerian government deployed security forces to the Local Government.

Many young men were arrested and given summary execution without proper investigation.

Unfortunately, Kalu who was going about his normal business, was among the victims of the extra-judicial killing.

He was labeled a gunman by security operatives for being a member of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

After he was killed, Kalu’s body was taken to 144 battalion in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

It took the intervention of community stakeholders to recover his remains from the military.

The source also revealed that the entire family has been living in fear after the summary execution of Kalu by security forces.
