Diaspora Digital Media hosts Commissioner of Information

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) on Tuesday, June 17, 2024, played host to the Commissioner of Information, Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor, at its premises.

The pleased Commissioner and his entourage praised DDM for its efforts at delivering authentic information and maintaining integrity in all that it set out to do.

The CEO, Mr. Dan Elombah had a brief round table meeting with the Commissioner and his entourage, where he laid out all that DDM is about, explaining the four pillars of DDM which are:

• DDM Tech-hub,
• DDM Movies,
• DDM Online Publishing
• DDM Broadcasting

He explained that DDM is geared at delivering authentic information and training up great minds in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Mr. Elombah explained that DDM looks forward to becoming a powerhouse in the media industry.

He explained that the media outfit is sponsored by twenty-five shareholders, five of whom are based here in Nigeria, while the rest are located in the diaspora (outside Nigeria).

The CEO, DDM, did not fail to express gratitude to the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for coming to the company’s rescue when some boys from the community tried to create an ugly scene while construction waas going on at the complex.

Mr. Elombah also highlighted plans to give scholarships to 100 Anambra youths.

The Commissioner took time to walk around the complex of DDM and he paid a visit to DDM academy where training on Information Communication and Technology (ICT) is impacted on young people.

He also visited the students’ accomodation and the studio.

He was accompanied round the tour by the General Manager, Mr. Tim Elombah and the CEO.

Dr. Mefor expressed his joy at visiting DDM, stating that he had had it in mind for long, to visit, but for other responsibilities on his table since his assumption of office as Commissioner.

Mefor in reaction to all he had seen, applauded DDM, noting that he had followed the progress of the company and its philosophy right from inception.

He stated that he sees DDM as a dream come true.

The Commissioner said he sees a solid foundation laid for the future.

He commended DDM for her efforts in equipping young people with digital skills and making them employable.

The Commissioner lauded the proposed plan to grant scholarships to 100 Anambra youths.

“I wish I were much younger  and would have all the time to join the next cohort,” the Commissioner teased.

He said the idea of scholarships for youths in the state is fundamental and in line with the philosophy of the Solution government which is making efforts in impacting positively on the youths of the state.

Mefor stated that Governor Soludo believes that the future of the state was not just in trade and commerce, but in innovation and tech.

“That is why he set up what we call Solution Innovation district.

“We are also training Anambra youths in digital skills, making them employable in Anambra, Nigeria and exportable abroad.

“A number of them have got jobs abroad with tech giants like Google, Microsoft Word, and so on…So you can see that what you are doing, complements,” Mefor added.

It was indeed a great visit by the Commissioner and the entire management of DDM express her profound gratitude to the Commissioner, and look forward to more of his visits.
