DDM News

A total of 210 suspects have been arrested in Borno State following a large-scale crime and drug operation conducted by the police.
The crackdown, according to the police, led to the recovery of dangerous substances and weapons in various parts of the state.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the operation was spearheaded by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Social Vices Unit, which comprises the police and allied security outfits.
Items seized during the raid included 28 Ermo tablets, 10 bottles of drug syrup, 19 shisha pots and pipes, nine knives, and two customised antelope horns.
The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed AbdulMajid, commended the bravery and commitment of the officers involved in the joint operation.
He attributed the success of the raid to the recently revitalised RRS unit, which has received renewed support and equipment from the Borno State Government.
He also expressed appreciation to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Hauwa Abubakar, for facilitating the swift prosecution of those apprehended.
According to AbdulMajid, the synergy between the police, other security agencies, and the judiciary is yielding positive results in combating crime.
He called on residents of the state to cooperate with law enforcement officers by reporting criminal activities and suspicious movements.
“Let me be clear, the Police Command in Borno under my watch will not tolerate criminal elements or their unlawful activities,” the CP warned.
He issued a stern message to individuals involved in illegal practices to cease immediately or prepare for the full weight of the law.
The crackdown is part of intensified efforts to restore public safety and eliminate drugs and weapons from the streets of Borno.
Authorities have reiterated that more operations are underway as part of the state’s renewed war on crime and narcotics.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and to engage with community policing initiatives being reintroduced across various localities.
The CP noted that the intelligence gathered from the public remains crucial in tracking down offenders and preventing future crimes.
He assured the public that the Police Command will continue to improve its response capacity and expand its surveillance across the state.
Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are being screened and profiled ahead of prosecution by the state’s Ministry of Justice.
Security experts have praised the operation, saying it reflects improved coordination among state actors and a more proactive approach to public security.
As of the time of this report, details about the identities of the suspects or specific locations of the raids have not been made public.
The Borno Police Command has promised to maintain transparency while upholding due process in handling all cases resulting from the raid.
