NAFDAC ’s recent crackdown in Kano has sent shockwaves through the community, as the agency arrested six suspects and sealed shops.

Consequently, NAFDAC acted swiftly in response to the rising public complaints on social media.

Initially, they launched a comprehensive investigation into the illegal sales of skin-bleaching creams to address growing concerns.

Additionally, the agency’s Kano coordinator, Kasim Ibrahim, disclosed that alarming videos and messages depicted vendors promoting toxic creams.

As a result, NAFDAC began discreet surveillance and mystery shopping operations, collecting evidence that confirmed the presence of harmful substances.

Following extensive analysis, NAFDAC identified six individuals significantly involved in the illicit trade, thereby jeopardizing public health for profit.

Subsequently, the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate coordinated a raid, leading to arrests and urgent laboratory testing of samples.

Furthermore, authorities sealed several shops and shut down companies faking registered cosmetics, pending further investigation into violations.

Ibrahim emphasized that these criminal activities represented a severe threat to public safety, particularly for women and youth misled.

Consequently, he stated, “This isn’t just about beauty—it’s about health, dignity, and the lives of our youth.”

Moreover, he highlighted that many creams promised instant results, yet they could cause irreversible skin damage or cancer.

Furthermore, NAFDAC reiterated its mandate to prevent public health disasters by enforcing strict regulations on cosmetics and related products.

Under the leadership of Director-General Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency remains committed to decisive action against offenders.

Ibrahim urged Nigerians to stay vigilant, report suspicious products, and support the agency’s fight against unregulated, dangerous items.

He thanked the media for amplifying awareness and reaffirmed NAFDAC’s dedication to safeguarding public health and well-being.
