Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia, the highest national honor awarded by the Caribbean island nation.

This recognition honors Tinubu’s efforts in strengthening diplomatic relations and fostering cooperation between Nigeria and Saint Lucia.

Tinubu established diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Saint Lucia, describing the move as a symbolic bridge to foster closer ties.

He proposed creating a Joint Commission or Political Consultation Agreement for structured cooperation between Nigeria and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The Saint Lucian government cited Tinubu’s growing influence on the global stage and commitment to promoting unity among nations as reasons for the recognition.

The title is rarely awarded to foreign leaders and was presented during a special state ceremony with cheers and fanfare.
