The Jigawa State Police Command has successfully dismantled several organized crime networks operating across the state, arresting multiple suspects and recovering stolen property ranging from motorcycles and vehicles to iron rods and illicit drugs.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that this significant security breakthrough was disclosed in an official statement released Thursday, July 3, 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam.

These coordinated operations are part of ongoing efforts by the police to curtail criminal activity and restore law and order across Jigawa State, a region that has recently witnessed a spike in burglary, drug trafficking, and vehicle theft.

SP Shi’isu confirmed that the wave of arrests and recoveries was the result of prompt action, reliable community intelligence, and collaboration with local vigilante groups.

One of the major highlights occurred on June 15, 2025, when police operatives in Kazaure Local Government Area responded to a tip-off about a residential burglary.

Unknown thieves had broken into two homes and made away with two motorcycles, a red Daylong and a red Boxer.

Working swiftly alongside neighborhood watch teams, the Kazaure Division successfully recovered the stolen bikes.

Just two days later, on June 17, the police were again alerted by security guards at a railway construction site in Kazaure.

Officers intercepted a suspicious white Honda Accord with registration number KZR 626AA.

The car was loaded with 23 pieces of 45-inch iron rods, valued at around ₦300,000.

While two suspects fled the scene, three others were apprehended.

Investigations later revealed that one of the arrested was an employee of the construction company, accused of colluding with the group to steal company property.

Four individuals are currently under investigation in connection with the case.

On June 20, a Honda Civic car was stolen from the Yalwawa Car Wash in Dutse.

Acting on credible intelligence, police traced the vehicle to the Dutse Mechanic Village, where they arrested 38-year-old Musbahu Yakubu from Jahun.

The suspect remains in custody, and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Another incident occurred on June 27, when two residents of Kamai village in Miga LGA were ambushed by hoodlums at Rami Bush and robbed of their red Boxer motorcycle.

With help from the Hantsu Security Watch, police arrested 17-year-old Haruna Adamu of Kokosu Fulani settlement. The stolen bike and the weapon used in the assault were both recovered.

On June 28, a dramatic raid was conducted in the Gidan Ruwa Quarters of Kazaure.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Shamsiyya Muhammad, who was accused of recruiting young women and vulnerable persons into criminal activity by pretending to be a widow.

A search of her residence uncovered 18 sealed wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other illegal substances. She is currently under investigation.

In another case, a commercial motorcyclist was robbed by 25-year-old Ibrahim Musa of Hadejia LGA, who reportedly lured him to Yalleman Town under false pretenses before fleeing with the motorcycle.

Fortunately, another cyclist witnessed the incident and raised an alarm.

The suspect was chased down by a crowd and caught near Dakaiyawa Primary School, where he was beaten before police officers arrived.

He was rescued, treated at Nuhu Alfa PHC, and placed in custody. The stolen motorcycle was recovered in good condition.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Murtala Tijjani, commended the dedication and quick response of police personnel as well as the support from local security groups.

He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to adopt intelligence-led strategies to tackle crime across Jigawa State.

DCP Tijjani also appealed to the public to continue supporting police efforts by reporting suspicious activities and avoiding mob justice, warning that taking laws into one’s hands could lead to more harm than good.

These developments come at a time when the Nigeria Police Force is under growing pressure to address insecurity nationwide, with many communities in northern Nigeria demanding tougher actions against rising crime.

The success of the recent operations has been widely praised and serves as a model for improved synergy between law enforcement and communities in tackling organized crime.
