Trump’s Budget Bill Passes Congress After Intense Debate

The United States Congress has officially passed President Donald Trump’s sweeping new budget bill after days of intense, round-the-clock debate.

The legislation is being hailed by the former president as a “tremendous win for the American people.”

The bill, which covers massive spending and tax reforms, now heads to Trump’s desk for signature on July 4, a move seen as symbolically aligning the legislation with Independence Day celebrations.

The legislative package passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate after overnight sessions and prolonged negotiations.

It is expected to become a cornerstone of Trump’s economic policy as he eyes a return to the White House in 2026.

In a dramatic turn, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries held the floor for over eight hours, voicing fierce Democratic opposition.

His filibuster-style speech broke records and delayed the final vote.

“This isn’t just budget math,” Jeffries said. “These are real decisions that will shape the future of working Americans.”

Democrats have criticized the bill for prioritizing tax breaks for corporations and high earners, while proposing cuts to some welfare and healthcare programs.

Despite opposition, the bill passed largely along party lines. Republican lawmakers called it a “transformational” step toward restoring fiscal discipline and spurring economic growth.

“America needs a bold path forward,” said Senate Majority Leader J.D. Vance, who cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate. “This bill is that path.”

What’s in the Bill?

The legislation includes:

Major tax cuts for businesses and middle-class households

Increased military and infrastructure spending

Spending caps on federal welfare programs

Repeal of several regulations from the Biden era Trump, who originally introduced the package as part of his comeback plan, applauded the outcome on his Truth Social platform.

“This is a tremendous win for every American,” he wrote. “This bill will turbocharge the economy, create jobs, and protect our future.”

The official signing is scheduled for July 4 in Washington, with celebrations expected to coincide with Independence Day festivities.

The White House has already begun planning a high-profile event, featuring key lawmakers and business leaders who supported the bill.

What It Means

The bill’s passage represents a significant policy shift and a potential turning point for Trump’s second-term ambitions.

It is also likely to fuel debate in the run-up to the 2026 midterms.

Analysts say the legislation could boost Trump’s popularity among conservatives, while deepening partisan divides over tax and social policy.
