It is not the best of time for Mr. Isuamfon Edem, of Okwo Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and a Lecturer with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University (currently head of Department) and wife Ediong, whose wedding collapsed barley 6 months old.
Our reporter gathered that what started off as a dream union between Mr. Isuamfon and his Ediong, has become a subject of nightmarish acrimony, discord and mud-slinging.
They got married on September 2nd/ 4th, 2021 and the marriage was blessed with a child named, Uduakabasi Isuamfon Edem.
Before she put to bed, Mr. Isuamfon abandoned her with the pregnancy at their apartment at Ikot Akpaden and fled to his father’s house at stadium road Uyo after she caught him with a female student in their matrimonial bed after series of her battery.
To cover up his crime, he denied that he is not responsible for the pregnancy accused her of extra marital affairs , abandoned her with the baby in the womb who now turns 3 years old.
That created more cracks and a breakdown of the marriage. With love lost between, the two families, the cracks became bigger overtime. Currently, they have turned sworn enemies.
According to her in 2024 Isuamfon approached Federal High court at Oruk Anam, Suit No: HOA/1D/2024, requested for dissolution of the marriage and also denied the child before the court.
The Judge in his wisdom requested for a DNA test which proved 99.9% positive, God Almighty vindicated her, that he is the biological father of the child, he later abandoned the case and fled.
Then the court struck out the case for lack of merit. Rather than taking care of the innocent soul he brought to earth, he now jumps to Customary court Abak Suit No: ADC/5/2025 for another dissolution of marriage without taking care of his child who is now turns 3.
Being an academia, he has denied the child the opportunity to start school up till now as the child is of age.
Ediong said before she put to bed her Father In-law backed up his son, accused her of hypnotizing the son (wonders the father’s faith claiming to be a pastor), pregnancy was gotten out of wedlock, diabolism, equally accused her of carrying fibroid etc. invited her with his son to University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.
On getting there they relocated me to Image Diagnostic Clinic off Obio Imo street, Uyo for a test. After confirmation Pastor Friday Edem persuaded me to abort the baby, when I objected , he ordered me to hand over the sons key to the apartment they were occupying at Ikot Akpaden .
On getting to the father’s compound at stadium road, Isuamfon, the father and siblings pushed me out of their compound threatening to “ kill me” if I don’t leave the compound under the heavy down pour that very day.
The 4 years old marriage got fractured 3 years ago leading to the couple’s separation, both have been living quietly apart until Isuamfon attempted to marry again.
Ediong with tears in her eyes recalled that though her parent and siblings-kicked against the union based on sudden and conspicuously absence of her mother-in-law, Deaconess Theresa Edem during the consultation, but his Father In-law said his wife was away to take care of her daughter who put to bed; but finally appeared on the wedding day.
When Isuamfon was asked why sudden, he explained that he is already thirty nine years old, beside his younger brother is to be ordained an elder in the Apostolic Church Nigeria and wants to marry soon; his Father demands he marries first. My family saw the reasons with him and approved the commencement of the marital rites properly.
Ediong said all she wants is justice for our child, let him come and take responsibility of his child and wonder why his Father Pastor Friday Edem, a pastor and a Rector of Apostolic Bible College Ikot Oku Nsit in that matter upon the mediation by some Pastor’s and The Apostolic Church Uyo Field Superintendent Prof. I.N.George can’t call his son to order, because he is ready to ruin many families already four families are victims of these devilish act.
Though following their antecedence, that is exactly what Pastor Friday Edem did to the wife in 1981 during the birth of his son Isuamfon.
“Isuamfon and his father are serial accomplice in destroying families. They came to ruin my life, he was in the union to ruin me”. Isuamfon does not care for my family neither his child. He destroyed my career, I know God will vindicate the just.
