2027: PDP Mobilizes to Reclaim Katsina

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has vowed to reclaim its political mandate in the upcoming 2027 general elections, urging party members to remain resolute and united in the face of recent defections and coalition rumours.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that this declaration was made on Sunday by Senator Yakubu Lado-Danmarke, the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, during a rally attended by PDP officials from all 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

Lado-Danmarke reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, firmly debunking speculation about his defection.

“I am still a card-carrying member of the PDP and have no intention of leaving the party for any coalition,” he declared.

He emphasized that his political supporters across the state remain committed PDP members and will not be swayed by recent political realignments.

This reassurance comes in response to reports that a faction of the PDP, led by Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, had officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), fuelling claims that the party had collapsed in Katsina.

Senator Lado dismissed those reports as baseless and urged the public and PDP members to disregard what he described as “fake news.”

According to him, the party’s poor performance in the 2023 elections was primarily due to the incompetence of its campaign coordinator, not a lack of grassroots support or internal strength.

Despite recent setbacks, Lado-Danmarke maintained that the PDP remains the only party capable of addressing Nigeria’s current economic hardship.

“I want to assure you that there is no political party in this country that can reduce the suffering of Nigerians like the PDP,” he stated.

“Everyone here remembers the kind of governance Nigerians enjoyed under PDP leadership at the federal, state, and local levels.”

He added that if the PDP’s previous eight years in power could be relived, citizens would feel as if they were living in paradise.

He urged party leaders at all levels to redouble their mobilisation efforts by delivering the party’s message of hope and good governance to supporters at the local government, ward, and polling unit levels.

Earlier at the rally, the PDP Chairman in Katsina State, Alhaji Nura Amadi-Kurfi, also addressed the recent rumours of coalition talks with other parties.

He asserted that the PDP was too established and influential to be absorbed into any other political organisation.

“If anyone wants to talk coalition, it must be under the leadership of the PDP,” Amadi-Kurfi declared.

The rally served as a show of strength and unity for the Katsina chapter of the PDP as it prepares for what it calls a major political comeback in 2027.
