JUST IN: Trump Diagnosed With Chronic Medical Condition

U.S. President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a long-term but non-threatening vein condition, the White House confirmed on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
This comes after weeks of online speculation about his bruised hand and noticeably swollen legs.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump, 79, was found to have chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults.
According to Leavitt, the president had recently reported mild swelling in both lower legs.
As for his bruised right hand, Leavitt blamed “frequent handshaking” and a regular aspirin-based heart health routine.
The president reportedly underwent a comprehensive medical evaluation, including an ultrasound.
Doctors found no signs of deep vein thrombosis, arterial disease, heart failure, or kidney problems. Leavitt added that Trump’s heart function and overall structure appeared normal.
Trump, the oldest U.S. president to take office, has often bragged about his stamina and fitness. Just this April, he said he was in “very good shape” after a routine check-up. His administration even posted a Superman-themed image of him online recently.
But sharp-eyed observers noticed the discoloration and swelling during the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey, fueling a wave of viral discussions about his health.
Pressed by the media in recent weeks, the White House had dodged questions about the hand bruising. But on Thursday, Trump asked Leavitt to release a physician’s note “in the effort of transparency.”
While the condition is considered benign, critics say the White House only responded after the rumors became too loud to ignore.
Meanwhile, Trump’s team continues to attack former President Joe Biden over health concerns. Biden, 82, was recently diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer and dropped out of the 2024 race after a disastrous debate showing.
Trump’s allies claim Biden’s team hid evidence of cognitive decline. House Republicans even subpoenaed Biden’s doctor and staff to testify.
Trump himself once mocked Biden for using an autopen, claiming it showed he was unfit to lead. However, autopens have long been used by U.S. presidents.
As speculation swirls, the pressure is now on Trump to prove that age is just a number and that he’s still fit to lead.
