Two people have been confirmed dead and one injured in a fatal motor accident that occurred in Ogun State on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1:00 p.m. along the Ota-Idiroko Expressway, specifically near the Chelsea area, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered from a Vanguard report that the accident involved a truck and a motorcycle, with the victims likely being the motorcycle rider and passengers.

Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, TRACE’s South-West Area Commander, confirmed the crash in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), urging motorists to always exercise caution and obey traffic rules, especially along the often-busy Ota-Idiroko axis.

The survivor, whose identity was yet to be released as of press time, was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Eyewitnesses claim the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident occurred, prompting calls for improved enforcement and surveillance along the route.

In another somber report, Nollywood superstar Odunlade Adekola announced the passing of his father, Pastor N.A. Adekola, on Saturday morning.

The actor took to Instagram to share a black-and-white image of his father with the simple caption: “Rest on my daddy.”

(DDM) notes that Pastor Adekola was well respected in his community and served diligently as a church leader and cleric.

Messages of condolence flooded the actor’s social media pages, with many describing the elder Adekola as a man of deep spirituality, warmth, and integrity.

While full details of the cause of death were not disclosed, the family is expected to release burial arrangements in the coming days.

Meanwhile, controversy has erupted on the international scene after UK politician Kemi Badenoch made remarks during a CNN interview, claiming she was unable to pass on Nigerian citizenship to her children due to her gender.

Badenoch, a Conservative Party figure of Nigerian descent, criticized gender-based nationality laws and used Nigeria as an example of backward policies affecting women in diaspora.

Reacting swiftly, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, challenged Badenoch’s statement, calling it misleading and unfair.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) learned through Punch reports that Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that Nigeria allows women to pass citizenship to their children and accused Badenoch of misrepresenting facts for political gain.

She advised the British minister to focus on correcting immigration challenges in the UK rather than distorting the image of her ancestral home.
