Anambra 2025: Ex-Assembly Members Endorse APC’s Ukachukwu as Guber Candidate

Former members of Anambra State House of Assembly, under the auspices of Former House of Assembly Members Forum, have endorsed Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their candidate for the November 8th, 2025, Anambra gubernatorial election.

The former members, numbering about 150, announced the endorsement on Monday 28th July, 2025, during a press conference held at Radisson Onyx Hotel, Awka, the state capital.

Those that signed the communique include former Speakers of Anambra Assembly, among whom are Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, and Rt. Hon. Timothy Ifedioranma.

Reading the communique issued following the endorsement, Rt. Hon. Ifedioranma stated:

“The leadership and members of Former Anambra State House of Assembly, a grassroots-oriented political advocacy group of Former Anambra State Assembly Legislators committed to promoting transparency, good governance, and democratic values, hereby officially endorse and adopt Hon. Prince (Dr) Nicholas Ukachukwu, Ikukuoma ndigbo (a former Federal House of Representative legislator) as our preferred candidate for the upcoming 2025 Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State.

“The Unanimous decision was reached after extensive consultations, several meetings with critical stakeholders in our various constituency engagements, and rigorous evaluation of the profiles, character and manifestos of various contenders.

“We are convinced that Ikukuoma Anambra and Owelle Orsumenyi stands out as the most competent, visionary, and people-focused candidate haven meritoriously served in Legislature, Executive and Private sectors for over the past 40 years of his life and still counting.

“His outstanding track records in public and private service, natural commitment to empowerment of youth and less-privileged, industrialization and job creation, Trade and commerce and his well-thought-out agenda for infrastructural development align perfectly with our mission to foster inclusive good governance and sustainable growth.

“His road map to securing our state is both elaborate, practical and assuring.

“He is by all standards the best among all the candidates running for the November 8th Governorship, Anambra as the light of the Nation deserves only the best.”

The former members expressed determination and commitment necessary to ensure Ukachukwu’s victory at the polls.

They, therefore, called on all members across party line, supporters in the 21 local government areas, 30 state constituencies, 326 wards and well-meaning citizens of Anambra State to rally behind the endorsement and work tirelessly for Ukachukwu’s victory at the polls.

“His emergence represents hope, stability, and the kind of leadership the state urgently requires,” Ifedioranma reads.

The group, meanwhile, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all security agencies to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process in the November 8th Guber Election.

“This is the time to rescue and take back our dear State and hand over to a competent, humane man after God’s heart to secure the present and future generations of our people, Igbo Nation and Nigeria at Large,” Ifedioranma stressed.

The group called on Ndi Anambra to vote Ikukuoma come November 8th to make Anambra people “rejoice again”.
