Slain Anambra teacher: activist raises alarm over case dismissal

Chukwuma Okafor, human rights activist, has raised an alarm over a possible case dismissal involving a teacher and officials of Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AIRS).
Okafor disclosed this in a social media message addressed to Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday, 15th March 2025.
The activist brought to light the identity of the teacher, identified as Mrs. Juliet Nwanneka Alozor. The victim was reportedly murdered two weeks ago by AIRS operatives at Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government of the state.

Late Mrs Juliet Nwanneka
Okafor stated: “Dear Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo,
“This woman was reportedly killed last two weeks in Y junction Nkwere Ezunaka by the members of the Enforcement Organ of Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AIRS).
“Her name is Mrs. Juliet Nwanneka Alozor.
“She has 6 little children who are already dying of trauma.
“She was a teacher, and was already doing her Master’s at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University before she was allegedly killed by these men who said they are working for you.
“Her body has been deposited in Apex Mortuary Nkwere Ezunaka”.
Activist reveals alleged killers might be freed
Further, the activist revealed that though the police apprehended and detained the suspected killers, intelligence he had got from the deceased family was clear that the police was contemplating dismissing the case.
“The two suspects (alleged killers) were arrested, and they were detained in 3-3 Police Division till today.
“The IPO in charge of the case is officer Pius Ugwu.
“Right now, I got a report from the deceased family that the police are considering sweeping the case under the carpet.
“For two weeks Sir, the police have been allegedly manipulating the family of this woman because they are poor.
“The 6 little Children who have been rendered motherless have since the past two weeks been crying for help.
“They are gradually becoming emotionally sick.
“Our Governor Sir, according to the family members of the deceased, one of the AIRS officials by name Hon. Juventus Chukwunwike Okoli has been pushing to dismiss the case through settlement.
“They are allegedly trying to use government contacts to dismiss the case.
“I am bringing this matter to your attention, because I know they have hidden it from you for the past two weeks.
“You have severally told us to “say something when we see something”.
“Now, I saw this one which both the Anambra State Police Command and AIRS are hiding from you.
“They are hiding it because they know you don’t take nonsense from anybody”, Okafor said.
Activist enjoins Gov. Soludo to swing into action
Also, the activist called on Governor Soludo to take urgent action.
He urged the governor to instruct the police officers to disclose the facts of the case and present eyewitness accounts to shed light on the atrocities carried out by their personnel.
Additionally, he passionately appealed to the governor to step in and provide immediate support for the deceased’s children, who face the dangers of hunger and emotional trauma.
“Please, our dear good Governor.
“I respectfully write so you will use your good offices to direct the police officers involved in this matter.
“Tell them to furnish you with the facts of this case together with eye witness accounts.
“So, you will be aware of the atrocities some men of the AIRS are committing in your state.
“Again, Your Excellency Sir, the little children this innocent woman left behind need care. Their lives are in danger.
“Four (4) of the children are sick already because of the trauma of the death of their mother. They may also suffer great health challenges if you fail to intervene.
“I have every evidence of what happened including the eyewitness accounts. I expect the government to act IMMEDIATELY, please.
“Thanks, please”, the activist stated.
