Saraki denies coalition move, says loyalty still PDP

Former Senate President and influential chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has distanced himself from ongoing political rumours suggesting his involvement in a new opposition coalition or any ties with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Saraki made the clarification on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2025, during a closed-door meeting with PDP stakeholders at his residence in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The meeting, which was highly anticipated amid widespread political speculation, was attended by top PDP members, grassroots mobilizers, and key political allies from across the state.

The purpose of the gathering, Saraki explained, was to address what he described as a wave of misinformation being spread through the media and within political circles regarding his political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his brief remarks before journalists were ushered out, Saraki categorically stated that he has no political dealings with the ADC and has never instructed any of his supporters or associates to join any coalition.

“I don’t have anything to do with the ADC and have not told anybody to join the coalition,” he stated firmly.

He noted that the time had come for the PDP to strengthen its internal communication and focus on unity rather than reacting to external distractions fueled by unnamed political interests.

Saraki further reassured party members that he remains committed to the PDP and is not swayed by backdoor political maneuvers or speculative realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, genuine political growth will come through transparency, grassroots engagement, and strategic preparation, values he has always upheld within the PDP.

He also used the opportunity to urge all party members to take the upcoming Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise seriously.

The CVR is scheduled to commence on August 18, 2025, and Saraki stressed its importance in consolidating the PDP’s electoral base across Kwara and the entire country.

He recalled the party’s impressive showing during the recent membership revalidation exercise and applauded stakeholders for their efforts.

He encouraged them not to relent, emphasizing that discipline, active participation, and unity are crucial as the PDP prepares for the political battles ahead.

The Ilorin meeting is being interpreted in many quarters as a strategic move by Saraki to stabilize the PDP’s narrative, reaffirm his leadership role within the party, and send a clear message to political observers and opponents.

As 2027 approaches, political realignments, rumours, and shifting alliances are expected to intensify.

But Saraki’s latest stance appears to reaffirm his loyalty to the PDP and his continued relevance in the national political landscape.
