Court Dismisses Sadique Abubakar’s Appeal Against Bala Mohammed’s Victory

Published

on

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, reading the lead judgment, has dismissed the appeal filed by Sadique Abubakar, citing a lack of merit in the case.

In November, the Court of Appeal had already affirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed in the March 18 governorship election.

Sadique Abubakar, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), filed the appeal after the election petition tribunal upheld Governor Mohammed’s election.

One of the key contentions in the appellant’s case was a plea to nullify the election, claiming that the forms and booklets used were not properly filled. However, the appeal court concluded that the appellant failed to substantiate this allegation with the necessary evidence.

The decision by Justice Saulawa reinforces the earlier ruling by the Court of Appeal, providing a legal resolution to the dispute over the governorship election outcome. Governor Bala Mohammed’s victory remains affirmed as the legal process concludes with the dismissal of Sadique Abubakar’s appeal.
