A Yoruba socio-cultural group has issued a stinging rebuke to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over worsening insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the group, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, popularly known as the Yoruba Union, accused Tinubu of abandoning his constitutional responsibilities while treating Aso Rock like personal property.

In a public statement issued on Monday, the Union’s Convener, Olusola Badero, alongside Home Director, Princess Balogun, condemned the administration’s handling of critical national issues.

They expressed alarm over the surge in poverty across the South West and a sharp increase in the number of out-of-school children.

The Union attributed this hardship to Tinubu’s failed economic reforms and the ongoing devaluation of the naira.

According to them, the government’s harsh policies have decimated small businesses and rendered basic survival unaffordable for average Nigerians.

They warned that families now live from hand to mouth, while children drop out of school due to widespread financial despair.

Badero lamented that communities like Itaogbolu in Akure North, Ondo State, are under siege, citing the abduction of seven farmers by suspected Fulani gunmen.

He recounted how the assailants attacked while victims harvested palm fruits and dragged them into nearby forests.

The gunmen reportedly demanded N100 million in ransom, which was later reduced to N20 million.

The victims’ families could only raise N5 million and some food items, after which the captives were released in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, last Wednesday.

The Union described the ordeal as humiliating, heartbreaking, and a sign of Tinubu’s failed promises on security.

They insisted that Tinubu’s administration has brought more pain to Yoruba communities rather than relief or empowerment.

The group further rejected the idea of Tinubu contesting in 2027, declaring that his leadership has shown he is unfit to govern Nigeria.

In their words, “Aso Rock is not his family house,” and Nigeria should not be reduced to private property.

They also decried the arrest and intimidation of journalists and critics under Tinubu’s administration.

The Yoruba Union accused the President of suppressing dissent and using state power to silence opposition voices.

They warned of rising gunmen activities in Kwara South, particularly in Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, and Ekiti LGAs.

According to them, Fulani gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles now dominate rural areas, converting the region into a kidnapping hub.

The group stressed that residents no longer sleep peacefully or travel safely within the South West.

They claimed Tinubu’s presidency has lost touch with reality and remains indifferent to the everyday suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

Calling for urgent reforms, the group said Nigerians voted for democratic leadership, not monarchical rule.

They insisted the Yoruba people would no longer support a leader who has failed to protect them or improve their lives.

The group concluded that Tinubu’s political future is finished and urged Yoruba sons and daughters to reject him at the polls in 2027.

They declared, “No genuine Yoruba person will vote for him again.”
