(DDM) – Social media activist and influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), has sparked intense reactions following his high-profile visit to Anambra State.

VDM led a candlelight procession in memory of the late fish vendor Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly called Fish Magnet, who was allegedly kidnapped and murdered under mysterious circumstances.

The procession, held in Awka, attracted a massive crowd of young Nigerians dressed in black, symbolising mourning and protest against insecurity.

DDM gathered that Fish Magnet’s death has become a tragic symbol of the wider insecurity plaguing communities across Anambra and the southeast.

VDM’s presence turned the vigil into a political flashpoint, especially after he accused security operatives and local authorities of not doing enough to secure lives.

The influencer, known for his confrontational advocacy style, also visited Ogbo Ogwu drug market in Onitsha, where he interacted with traders and accused NAFDAC of extortion and poor regulation.

His social media posts during the trip went viral, showing emotional moments with the grieving public, including scenes of crying mothers, closed shops, and symbolic candlelight.

But his actions also drew sharp warnings from the Anambra State Police Command.

Authorities cautioned that individuals like VDM, who do not reside in the state, should refrain from making provocative statements or organising unsanctioned gatherings.

The police described such behaviour as potentially inflammatory and capable of endangering public peace.

Despite the warning, DDM observed that the procession remained peaceful, with no recorded incidents of violence or arrests.

VDM insisted his actions were to demand justice and expose the growing insecurity that has claimed many innocent lives.

He questioned the silence of state officials and challenged the police to prioritise citizen protection.

According to DDM sources, the young influencer’s message resonated deeply with youths who feel abandoned by government institutions.

VDM, who brands himself “The Voice of the Voiceless,” reiterated his commitment to calling out injustice wherever it occurs.

He accused political leaders of negligence and urged them to invest in human lives rather than defending their image.

The event drew support from entertainers like MC Cedar and Lord Zeus, who joined the protest march.

The visit has since triggered renewed conversations about governance, activism, and security in Nigeria.

VDM’s courage in the face of threats, including alleged plots to silence him, has further amplified his popularity among grassroots supporters.

Police spokespersons maintain that the state will not tolerate incitement but promised to investigate the circumstances surrounding Fish Magnet’s death.

While opinions remain divided over VDM’s methods, many agree that his visit forced an overdue conversation on justice, youth advocacy, and systemic failure in Nigeria.

DDM will continue to monitor developments as the candlelight vigil’s ripple effect spreads across the southeast.
