Boko Haram terrorists killed 1,900 herdsmen in Borno state in the last four years.
Al-Hayah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (ACBAN), in Borno, the umbrella organisation for herdsmen gave the figure in Maiduguri.
“Al-Hayah cattle rearers is a tribal association meant represent and protect the interest the Shuwa and Koyyom, a second largest ethnic groups of in Borno.
Alhaji Ibrahim Mafa, The Chairman of the Association, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Wednesday.
Mafa said that members of the association also lost about 169, 000 cows, 63, 000 rams, goats and sheep to the terrorists
“We also lost about 400, 000 sacks of grains while a lot of our members have been displaced.
The Chairman who lamented the high number of herdsmen killed by the terrorists said property worth hundreds of millions were damaged and destroyed.
“Our herdsmen have lost cows, properties and houses worth about N26 billion in 10 local government areas in Northern Borno.
“These areas include Kala balge, Marte, Mafa, Munguno, Bama, Konduga and Gwoza among others.
“We are therefore appealing to the government to come to the aid of our people who are in dire need of help.
“Some of our stolen animals are kept around Dikwa town before being smuggled to other parts of the country for sale into neighboring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroun Republic, “said Mafa.
