Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court, Abuja stays execution on judgment that removed Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Justice Abang also formally transferred further proceedings in the matter between Governor Ikpeazu and Uche Ogah to the court of Appeal…as he no longer has jurisdiction to hear the matter…
The development comes as Abia State High Court in Osisioma granted a motion filed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State for extension of Order restraining the Chief Judge of Abia State, the President Abia State Customary Court of Appeal and any other judicial officer from swearing in Mr. Uche Ogah, as governor of the state.
The order extends to 18th July, 2016.
Meanwhile Dr David Onuoha-Bourdex, member, Board of Trustees (BoT), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), says the political situation in Abia vindicates APGA as the real winner of the 2015 governorship election.
This is contained in a statement issued by Onuoha-Bourdex on Friday in Abuja on the confusion generated by the sack of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, by a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja.
He said that the sack of Ikpeazu and the issuance of Certificate of Return to Dr Samson Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had exposed a lot. Onuoha-Bourdex explained that the political crisis in Abia chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the 2015 governorship election showed that the party did not win the election.
“We in APGA told the world that we won the election, because Abia people supported us and rejected PDP on account of its rule of man and impunity.
“The Court of Appeal, Owerri Division, nullified the senatorial election and declared our governorship candidate as the actual winner of the election. “Now somebody within PDP has come out to prove that a wrong candidate was imposed on the party.
“That is the foundation of the confusion in Abia,” he said Onuoha-Bourdex, who was APGA candidate for Abia-North senatorial district in the last election, urged PDP to apologise to Abians and confess to the electoral malfeasance of 2015.
Onuoha-Bourdex in the statement, said that APGA was watching events unfold in Abia, adding that at the appropriate time Abia would regain its place as God’s Own State.
