Lagos nightlife entrepreneur Mike Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, has revealed the scale of investment behind the revival of his nightclub, Proxy Lagos, following its prolonged closure.

Speaking to journalists, the controversial socialite disclosed that he spent over ₦100 million renovating the club after it was shut down for several months in the wake of a raid by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. The closure, which lasted close to nine months, forced a complete rethink of the business.

According to Pretty Mike, the renovation was not just about reopening doors but about reimagining the brand and elevating the customer experience. He explained that after such a major disruption, it became necessary to return with something more refined and appealing to loyal patrons.

Describing the period as both financially and emotionally draining, he noted that the shutdown affected not only him but also his staff and business ecosystem. However, he managed to stay afloat through diversified income streams and strong backing from trusted associates.

“The brand itself is a business,” he said, emphasizing that his public persona continues to generate income beyond nightlife. This, he explained, played a crucial role in sustaining him through the difficult period.

Beyond the club scene, Pretty Mike highlighted his involvement in construction and real estate, revealing that he actively builds and sells properties. These ventures, alongside family support and investor confidence, have strengthened his financial stability.

He also pointed out that credibility has been a major factor in attracting investors, stating that people are more willing to partner with him because of his reputation for reliability and consistency.

Addressing his often controversial public image, Pretty Mike admitted that controversy has become intertwined with his brand identity over time. However, he insisted that it is not always intentional, but rather an inevitable part of operating in the nightlife and entertainment space.

Interestingly, despite his high-profile presence in party scenes, he described himself as naturally reserved. According to him, his business demands visibility, even though his personal preference leans toward a quieter, more private lifestyle.

On a more personal note, the socialite opened up about his views on marriage, expressing a desire to settle down in the future. He described marriage as a meaningful life milestone but acknowledged that the rising rate of failed unions has made many people more cautious.

For him, choosing a life partner goes beyond physical attraction. He stressed that character, attitude, and personality are far more important in building a lasting relationship.

Pretty Mike’s story reflects a blend of resilience, business acumen, and reinvention showing how setbacks can be transformed into opportunities for growth, both professionally and personally.
