Amotekun Operatives Apprehend 19 Suspected Kidnappers in Ondo State
The Ondo State Security Outfit, Amotekun, has apprehended 19 suspected kidnappers in the Northern senatorial district of the state. The suspects were paraded in Akure, and the State Commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, provided details of the operation.
Addressing the media, Adeleye highlighted the success of Amotekun in foiling three kidnapping attempts in the last month, marking a period without any successful kidnapping activities in the state. Out of the 36 suspects paraded, 19 were specifically linked to kidnapping, while others were involved in offenses such as housebreaking and stealing.
The State Commander emphasized the role of intelligence reports in their operations, stating that 17 of the suspects were apprehended in a particular area where Amotekun had been closely monitoring activities. Adeleye praised the collaboration with other state security agencies, leading to a significant reduction in criminal activities within the state.
Adeleye urged traditional rulers and the public to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of reporting any suspicious movements or unknown persons in the community. He assured the public that Amotekun would continue its efforts to maintain security and protect lives and property.
The State Commander also addressed concerns about criminals disguising as scavengers, revealing that plans were underway to work with relevant government agencies to implement policies to ban the activities of scavengers within the state. Adeleye affirmed Amotekun’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for residents and urged the public to be cautious of strangers and report any unusual activities promptly.
