All Progressives Congress has released the names of House of Representatives aspirants who failed to scale its screening process ahead of the party’s National Assembly primaries for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the screening exercise was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and procedures.
The affected aspirants came from several states, including Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers.
Among those marked “not cleared” in Ondo State are Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen, Olusegun Victor Ategbole, Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo, Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel, Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi and Olaleye John Adedipe.
In Bauchi State, Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello was listed among the disqualified aspirants, while Ebonyi State had Hon. Idu Igariwe on the list.
Kogi State recorded the disqualification of Sanni Salau Ogembe for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency race.
In Rivers State, those marked “not cleared” include Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara (retd), Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki, Awaji Imombek D. Abirite and Hon. Boma Goodhead.
The party did not give specific reasons for the disqualifications.
Meanwhile, APC primaries in some states have already produced candidates. In Katsina State, Jamila Mani, an aide to Governor Dikko Radda, emerged winner of the party’s primary for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency.
However, the process faced setbacks in parts of Adamawa State, where party members reportedly waited for hours after officials failed to show up for scheduled direct primaries in some wards.
The APC primaries are part of the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
