Aspiration & ambition made possible by my journey to COPDEM/DDM media training in Anambra
Written by Godson Oledibe
The withdrawal of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) Publicity Secretary Imo State having been penciled down to attend, orchestrated my journey of life’s aspiration, ambition and fulfillment.
That adventure set me on my way journeying to COPDEM/DDM (Diaspora Digital Media) media training and capacity building workshop, in Awka, Anambra State.
To be honest, I never prepared for this journey having given up earlier, when I was made to understand that, it was for State Publicity Secretaries, yet fate had a date with me.
Around afternoon of Wednesday 28th November, I decided to go online and check my messages in our COPDEM State Exco platform and what did I see? Our State Chairperson had left an enquiry, which was asking for Volunteer to take the slot so that, Imo State would not lose her chance.
There and then, I indicated interest and before, she could come online to see my response, it was already 4pm. From that, point preparation began , sending my CV soft copy for perusal, vetting and or scrutining etc started.
The following day time was racing as if it had a mission to say, man you are not qualified because, that was what was going on in my mind, as I thought it took a while to give a clearance that would have set me on my way.
Alas! I was about embarking on a domestic assignment to assist my wife then, I got a call and it was my own dear indefatigable State Chairperson, Amb. Liliane Sleek and I was like, what is she about to say? And I had her eloquently say, my dear Pastor please send me your account details let me send your transport.
But when are you going and of course you can guess my answer. Ma, I am ready and about to take off to get a bike to the Onitsha/ Owerri expressway.
My journey started in less than 10 minutes afterwards. I got a bike without much stress having bade my wife farewell.
At, Onitsha/ Owerri expressway, I did not spend up to ( 5) five minutes and a bus pull over, the conductor and I bargained the fare and I boarded.
It was a smooth ride as the driver was at his best doing 80/100 mph like we had a chat and he was aware of how urgently I needed to be here, but for a lot army and police, civil defence, Federal roap safety corps check points, at less than a kilometer to each other.
This kept me thinking about the notion that, the South East region is a conquered territory; but let me leave this to another day.
Certainly, the most interesting part of my journey was from Onitsha to Awka and from Awka to Mgbakwu.
This was because, I have never come to this axis before, even when I am from the South East region.
I Could not capture much of the Scenario as it was night already when we left Onitsha but one great thing God did for me was, giving me guide in each vehicle I entered on this journey, so that, I never had a problem of how to find my Way and of course the short road map my State Chairperson gave me having the phone number of Mr Joseph and Emmanuel respectively.
I arrived here about dinner time and join the class, Participants and Resource persons together and so I told myself; Godson welcome to your destiny, aspiration and ambition fulfillment.
This is because, it’s been a life long ambition to become a Journalist and a lawyer.
Here, I am to give this training all it takes and contribute my quota using my pen to great advantage to help reshape Nigeria and make her better.
