Attack on Iran will be deadly, precise, surprising — Israel

Israeli Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant

Military authorities in Israel have said the Jewish nation’s response to last week’s missile attack from Iran will be “deadly, precise, and surprising.”

Mr Yoav Gallant, Israeli Defence Minister disclosed this on Wednesday.

“Our attack in Iran will be deadly, precise and surprising,” Gallant said in a statement posted on social media.

He added that “Those who try to harm the State of Israel will pay a price.”

Although, this is coming after the United States government urged Israel to desist from launching military operations in Lebanon, similar to those in Gaza.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, State Department spokesman, Mr Matthew Miller expressed concerns about the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn Palestinian region.

“I’m making very clear that there should be no kind of military action in Lebanon that looks anything like Gaza and leaves a result anything like Gaza,” he said.

Miller was responding to a question about a video released by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.

“You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza,” Netanyahu said.

“I say to you, the people of Lebanon, free your country from Hezbollah so that this war can end”, he added.

Recall that Hezbollah initiated low-intensity attacks on Israeli forces shortly after its ally, Hamas, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, which triggered the ongoing war in Gaza.

This conflict has since escalated, with Israel responding through significant strikes at both the border and deeper into Lebanon, culminating in ground operations late last month.

Hezbollah Call For Truce.

Meanwhile, decimated Hezbollah militant group on Tuesday expressed readiness to engage in cease-fire talks with Israel, after suffering horrible blows to its leadership and ranks.

Sheik Naim Qassem, the group’s deputy secretary general, openly endorsed a truce with Israel.

This is the first time the terror group has proposed a cease-fire not conditioned on the war in Gaza.

Note that the call for truce follows a week of escalating violence in southern Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes have pounded Hezbollah positions, with both sides exchanging heavy fire.

“We support the political efforts led by [Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih] Berri under the banner of achieving a cease-fire,” Qassem said.

“Once the cease-fire is firmly established and diplomacy can reach it, all other details will be discussed and decisions will be made collaboratively,” he added.

Hezbollah’s willingness for talks marks a notable shift in its stance, possibly indicating the toll the conflict is taking on the group.

Moreover, Israel remains committed on its military operations, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordering full-scale attacks on Hezbollah strongholds.

International mediators, including the United States, have been working behind the scene to push for a cease-fire.

But Israel has yet to signal any immediate willingness to halt its strikes.

Hezbollah had previously vowed that it would not stop attacking Israel until it agrees to end the war in Gaza, with the Iran-backed terror group firing missiles over the border nearly every day since Oct. 8.

Qassem is currently the highest-ranking member in the terror group after Israel devastated its ranks in recent months.

Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated in Sept. 27, with Israeli defence officials revealing Tuesday that his touted successor, Hashem Safieddine, was also likely killed in an airstrike last week before he could even be formally elected as a replacement.
