Marine Le Pen, France far-right politician, has insisted to contest on the 2027 presidential election despite her recent conviction.

Le Pen disclosed this in an interview published on Wednesday April 2, 2025.

The France far right politician has vowed to use all possible legal avenues to stand in 2027 elections.

Earlier, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reported that Le Pen was on Monday March 31, 2025, sentenced to a partly suspended jail term, fined, and banned from elections for five years.

She was found guilty of diverting European Union (EU) parliamentary funds to pay party staff disguised as parliamentary assistants.

Reacting to the ruling, President Emmanuel Macron said France’s judiciary is independent and judges must be protected.

Le Pen dismissed the ruling, describing it as a political attack aimed at stopping her from contesting in the forth coming election.

She has promised to explore all legal options, including the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights.

The National Rally (RN), her party, has also scheduled a protest on Sunday, insisting she is innocent of the charges.

Macron acknowledged that all citizens have the right to appeal, saying “the law is the same for everyone.”

Jordan Bardella, leader of the RN in the European Parliament, said the planned rally was a defense of democracy, not a power play.

In a potential lifeline, the Paris Court of Appeal has agreed to review her case within a timeframe that could allow her to contest.

Le Pen described the ruling as a “nuclear bomb” against her political ambition but remained confident of overturning it.

She rejected discussions of a “Plan B” where Bardella could replace her, insisting she remains focused on winning.

“If I am elected, then this will not be my last campaign,” Le Pen said, affirming her determination.

The Paris Court of Appeal is expected to deliver a decision by mid-2026, before the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the Paris prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into threats against the judges who convicted Le Pen.

Judge Benedicte de Perthuis has been placed under police protection following multiple threats to her safety.
