BOT inaugurates Imo COPDEM,charges them for more structures

A member of Board of Trustees of the Coalition For The Protection Of Democracy COPDEM, Dr Chisom Ezeocha has inaugurated the Imo state chapter and executives of the organization.

The Executives which include the state, LGA and Ward executives were inaugurated on the 3rd of January 2025 at Owerri, Imo state.

Speaking during the inauguration, the BOT member, Dr Chisom Ezeocha charged the executives to go and build a formidable structure for the organization.

He said COPDEM is waking up Imo state from the Polling units, wards, LGAs , Zones and state.

Ezeocha noted that the work will be enormous because of insecurity, bad governance, bad economy in the state.

He hinted that there is urgent need to redefine and change the narratives in Imo and by extension Igbo land.

The BOT pointed out that we can engage our various communities by informing them that indeed power belongs to them.

” We can also let them know that they can recall erring representatives especially those that represent themselves when we put them there.”

Dr Ezeocha stated that COPDEM stands for integrity, confidence, good governance and visionary leadership.

” I believe that four years is enough for a governor to do well. Mbakwe built Imo state in four years, Jim Nwobodo built Anambra state in four years and others.

” We want to bring confidence and passionate people into governance across the state”, he stated.

The state chairman Amb. Sleek Ukoha ably represented by the state secretary Chioma Ugboaja while delivering her inaugural speech said COPDEM is built on the principles of democracy, justice and equality.

She said the importance of protecting our democratic institutions and promoting rule of law cannot be overemphasized.

“As we begin this new chapter we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values of democracy and ensuring that the voice of all Imo citizens are heard”, she noted.

The state chair charged the executives to remain vigilant, courageous and committed to our shared values urging them to continue to work towards building stronger, just and equitable society.

The state deputy chairman, Chuks Adizua stated COPDEM’s achievements to include setting up of state executive council, LGA, Wards and polling booths, as well as women and youth wings and a mushroom farms across the state.

He also promised the newly inaugurated executives integrity, transparency and accountability as they resume duty noting that his words are his bond.
