(DDM) — The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled the iDICE Startup Bridge, a major national initiative designed to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading technology and innovation hub in Africa.

The programme, known as iDICE (Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises), aims to provide structured funding and support to more than 500 technology entrepreneurs across the country.

Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to stimulate innovation, create jobs, and drive economic diversification through the digital economy.

The iDICE Startup Bridge is expected to connect startups with investors, mentors, and global markets, helping early-stage businesses scale their operations sustainably.

According to government sources, the programme will focus on key sectors including fintech, health tech, agritech, edtech, and the creative industries.

The initiative is also designed to address one of the biggest challenges facing Nigerian startups—access to capital—by offering funding support, capacity development, and business incubation opportunities.

Economic analysts say Nigeria’s tech ecosystem has experienced rapid growth in recent years, attracting significant international attention and investment.

However, they note that many startups still struggle with funding gaps, infrastructure challenges, and regulatory hurdles, making initiatives like iDICE critical to sustaining growth.

The programme is expected to be implemented in collaboration with development partners and private sector stakeholders, ensuring that beneficiaries receive both financial and technical support.

Experts believe the initiative could boost Nigeria’s global competitiveness in the digital economy, particularly as African countries increasingly compete for tech investment and innovation leadership.

The government also highlighted the potential of the programme to empower young entrepreneurs, who make up a significant portion of Nigeria’s population and are key drivers of innovation.

In addition to funding, participants will benefit from mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to international markets, enabling them to expand beyond local boundaries.

Observers say the launch of the iDICE Startup Bridge signals a strategic shift towards knowledge-driven economic growth, reducing dependence on traditional sectors such as oil and gas.

As the programme rolls out nationwide, stakeholders are optimistic that it will unlock new opportunities, strengthen Nigeria’s startup ecosystem, and position the country as a dominant force in Africa’s digital future.
