Carys Douglas is officially stepping into the spotlight, marking a major milestone in her journey as an actress.
The 23-year-old daughter of Hollywood icons Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to make her professional stage debut in a New York City production of The Seagull.
The upcoming production, described as a “multi-space, site-specific theatrical experience,” is being staged by the theatre company Solid Flesh. It will run for a limited engagement from June 20 to June 27 at St. Lydia’s venue in Brooklyn, offering audiences a fresh and immersive take on the classic play by Anton Chekhov.
Carys, who has long expressed a passion for acting, appears to be following in the footsteps of her award-winning parents. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who have been married since 2000, share two children Carys and her older brother, Dylan Douglas. Douglas is also father to Cameron Douglas from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker.
Earlier this year, Carys celebrated her graduation from Brown University, where she earned a degree in film and international relations. Speaking at the 2025 PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala, she opened up about her creative ambitions and desire to build a career in the performing arts.
“I grew up doing theatre, and I didn’t study acting in school, but that’s why I’m happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that,” she said.
Her stage debut now signals the beginning of what could be a promising career, as she transitions from a background in film studies to live performance.
In a touching moment earlier this year, Catherine Zeta-Jones took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s graduation, sharing a heartfelt photo alongside Michael Douglas as they kissed Carys on both cheeks.
“We are both such proud parents right now!! It’s only just begun!!” she wrote.
With her first professional role now on the horizon, Carys Douglas is poised to carve out her own identity in the entertainment industry one stage at a time.
