Kano State Governor, Kabir Yusuf, has officially commissioned the multi-million naira Dambatta International Cattle Market, a significant upgrade made possible through a collaboration between the Kano State Government and the Islamic Development Bank-funded Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project.
This announcement was made on August 24 2024, in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa.
“The Dambatta cattle market is one of the five other upgraded markets…
“Which include Tsanyawa, Falgore, Doguwa, and Wudil cattle markets, respectively,” the statement read.
“In each of the five markets, the state government has provided loading ramps, water facilities, office accommodation for market information…
“Security posts, veterinary services infrastructure, public conveniences, as well as electricity for security to trade even in dark hours.”
Governor Yusuf emphasized the initiative’s goal to modernize livestock transport logistics, reduce mortality, and improve trade conditions.
He further highlighted the significance of livestock trade in Kano State, noting that it supports the livelihoods of millions and reduces poverty.
Additionally, it bolsters economic activities within the broader agricultural value chain.
Speaking on behalf of the Dambatta community, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Publicity, Jamilu Danbatta, expressed their deep gratitude.
He stated that the community would “forever be grateful to the Governor for his efforts to promote the economic priority of the area.”
The cattle market project overview
