There was chaos at the well-known Ikoku Market in Rivers State’s Port Harcourt City Local Government Area when local business people returned to witness a corpse with machete wounds, on Saturday morning.

According to the Rivers State Police Command, which verified the incident, an initial inquiry revealed the victim was well-known and might have been lynched.

Additionally, it was discovered that the male victim’s critical organs—particularly his private area—had been removed, raising the possibility that he had been killed for ceremonial reasons.

The body was left in front of a modern bank at Ayama junction on Port Harcourt’s Olu-Obasanjo Road.

According to a source who goes by the name Emeka and runs a store in Ikuku, the deceased man’s intestine was purportedly removed and his stomach torn open.

Even as spectators gathered, Emeka stated that the deceased’s identity was still unknown.

However, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police and the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, pointed out that the victim was well-known in the community for infamous actions.

Iringe-Koko emphasized that all of the victim’s essential organs were still in good condition and rejected the report of the crucial organ harvest.

Another attack: 15 Killed in Kebbi

15 members of the Mera hamlet in the Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State were killed in a bandit attack.

According to reports, this might be considered the most recent chaos to hit the state.

Deputy Governor Abubakar Umar Tafida confirmed the incident and offered his sympathies to the families of the victims.

Tafida promised residents during his visit that the state administration is dedicated to apprehending the offenders and stopping future assaults.

He emphasized that in order to protect residents’ safety and wellbeing, the government would keep working closely with security services.

Alhaji Samaila Mera, the Emir of Argungu, expressed his grief over the heinous assault and called on the populace to be resilient and together.

The Deputy Governor, the Commissioner of Police, and the Emir attended the funeral where the victims were laid to rest.

The chaos followed recent attacks that occurred throughout the nation, particularly in the North, as a result of insecurity.

In an incident with armed bandits terrorizing the state’s Jibia Local Government Area on Friday, two security officials—one of whom was a member of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps—and one vigilante member were reported dead.

Five people were also wounded by gunshots during the assault.

According to reports, the thugs attacked the quarters of Ka’ida, Unguwar One Boy, and Danmarke in Jibia Township, Jibia LGA, Katsina State, at approximately 2115 hours (9:15 p.m.).

The State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, acknowledged the occurrence in a statement released on Friday, and stated that the injured were taken right away to a nearby hospital for treatment.
