2024 FIFA Best Awards List

William Troost-Ekong and Ademola Lookman have been shortlisted for the best defender and best attacker categories, respectively of the 2024 FIFA Best awards.

Sources revealed that three Nigerians have received nominations for the 2024 FIFA Best Awards in a number of categories.

FIFA released its nominees on Friday, including Wiliam Troost-Ekong, Asisat Oshoala, and Ademola Lookman.

Along with Vinicius Junior, Lamine Yamal, Bukayo Saka, Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, Lookman, who placed 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or event, was shortlisted in the Best Attacker category.

Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, William Saliba, Achraf Hakimi, Manuel Akanji, Jonathan Tah, and numerous other competitors will face Troost-Ekong in the Best Defender division.

Oshoala received a nomination for the newly established Marta Award for the finest goal in women’s football.

In November 2023, the 30-year-old’s spectacular goal for Barcelona Femeni versus Benfica in the women’s Champions League was selected.

Vinicius and Rodri will compete against one another once more for the men’s best player honor.

Together with Jude Bellingham, Mbappe, Toni Kroos, and Federico Valverde, the pair was one of nine players nominated.

Fans and football players alike expressed both delight and disapproval of Rodri’s selection as the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner in October.

Fans and an expert panel will each have an equal weight in the 2024 FIFA Best awards voting, source says.

Fans have until December 10, 2024, to cast their votes on the FIFA website.

The 2024 FIFA Best Awards list recognized outstanding achievements by some nominees in football.

The nominees include:
