The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures has praised President Bola Tinubu for implementing tax reform policies.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the National Assembly recently advanced the tax bills to the second reading, showing progress in Nigeria’s fiscal policies.

Chairman Adebo Ogundoyin conveyed the commendation in a communiqué signed by Director General Busari Sarafadeen in Abuja on Friday.

The Speakers emphasized that tax reforms will enhance fiscal federalism by giving states greater financial autonomy, and chance to fix her financial needs.

They stated that improved tax collection would help states generate more revenue for public services and infrastructure.

“The Conference commends the President for driving tax reform bills through legislative scrutiny,” the communiqué stated.

They acknowledged citizens’ concerns and urged lawmakers to consider them when finalizing the tax legislation.

If implemented, these tax reforms will strengthen state-level administration and support developmental projects.

The Speakers reaffirmed their commitment to democracy, legislative independence, and good governance.

They also addressed leadership changes in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The Conference stressed the need to follow constitutional provisions when removing state legislative leaders.

They urged Lagos stakeholders to respect legislative independence and ensure due process.

“The Conference recognizes constitutional guidelines for removing presiding officers,” the communiqué added.

The Speakers urged all parties to follow legal procedures to maintain peace.

They also discussed the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The Speakers welcomed court rulings that affirmed Martin Amaewhule’s leadership of the Assembly.

They urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara and others to work with the recognized legislature.
