(DDM) – The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) has issued an official invitation to all its members at home and abroad for a crucial global general meeting scheduled for this weekend.

The leadership of COPDEM stated that the meeting will hold on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 8:00 PM Nigeria Time, and will be conducted virtually via Zoom to allow members across the globe to participate without geographical barriers.

DDM gathered that the meeting comes at a critical political moment for Nigeria, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares for important elections in Anambra and Kaduna States on August 16, 2025.

According to the official notice, the meeting will focus on two main agenda items.

The first agenda item is the INEC elections in Anambra and Kaduna States.

The elections are expected to draw significant attention given the political stakes in both states, as well as COPDEM’s commitment to mobilizing democratic forces to ensure fairness, transparency, and active citizen participation.

The second agenda item is an update on the ADC coalition.

This update will provide members with detailed insights into COPDEM’s ongoing political alliances and strategies aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and resisting any attempts to undermine Nigeria’s electoral integrity.

Members have been provided with the official Zoom link to join the meeting:

COPDEM’s leadership emphasized that maximum participation is essential, as the meeting will serve as a rallying point for members worldwide to align on strategy, share updates, and prepare coordinated action for the upcoming political season.

The organization urged members to treat the invitation with utmost seriousness, noting that the discussions will directly influence COPDEM’s role in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy during and after the August 16 elections.

The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy has, in recent months, positioned itself as a strong voice against electoral malpractice, voter suppression, and the erosion of democratic values.

Through press statements, public mobilization, and coalition building, COPDEM has sought to unite pro-democracy forces both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.

Saturday’s meeting is expected to attract participants from multiple continents, reflecting the coalition’s expanding global network and influence.
