Customs gave NAFDAC 1,198 cartons of fake drugs
On Wednesday, the Nigerian Customs Service, Sokoto Zonal Command, gave the National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control in Sokoto 1,198 cartons of seized fake drugs.
The Area Controller, Comptroller Musa Omale, said that the seizure was in line with the collaboration policy of the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi while handing over the seized items to the agency at the Sokoto zonal office.
According to him, unregistered pharmaceutical drugs pose a great danger to the nation and the problem of counterfeit drugs is a global scourge that the world is currently dealing with.
He assured NAFDAC that the command would provide unwavering support in the fight against counterfeit drugs.
He, however, warned smugglers to desist from the act as the Command was battle-ready to curtail the nefarious deed.
He mentioned that the importation of pharmaceutical drugs through the land border is not allowed for control purposes.
The Service has made it so that all pharmaceutical drugs are imported through designated seaports and are only cleared after meeting the necessary documentation.
The drugs that were handed over included 450 cartons of Real Extra Tablet, 405 cartons of sex enhancement drugs, 148 cartons of condoms, 30 cartons of Vernos chewable drugs, and others.
The Sokoto NAFDAC Coordinator, Garba Adamu, appreciated the service for their unwavering synergy and collaboration in safeguarding the health and lives of Nigerians.
