Governor Yahaya Bello versus Senator Dino Melaye

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye has raised alarm that his traducers planted the names of his own blood brother as well as two of his uncles in the recall list.

Speaking with The Sun on Saturday, he scorned the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello along with his collaborators at the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC].

He said: “Yahaya Bello did not vote for me, he is not a member of my constituency, he has no electoral value as far as my seat in the Senate is concerned. So he has no power to recall me.

“He sat down with his appointees, and got INEC data, then directly transferred names from INEC register to the recall list.

“Do you know that my blood brother’s name is on that list?

“Do you know that two of my uncles from Takete who are immediate brothers to my mother, their names are on that list?

“And we have also discovered that there were a lot of ghosts, a lot of dead people, their names are on the list.

“In some instances, the names of some people on the list supersede the required number of eligible voters and registered voters in the INEC register,” he noted.

He lamented that ‘the reason why the issue of recall came up is because of his continuous and voracious request that the governor pay workers in Kogi State.’

He, speaking on good authority and on his honour as a member of the Senate, stated that “for 17 months, he [Governor Bello] has not been paying salaries.”

He expressed bitterness over the fact that bailout was paid to Kogi State “for augmenting the arrears of salaries”, yet worker wander about without salaries.

He said: “He got the first bailout, he got the second bailout.

“He got the first tranche of Paris club refund and the second tranche of Paris Club, yet he is unable to pay salary.

“Instead, he’s been stealing the money of Kogi State, building properties across the country.

“We have evidence we’re generating, we are keeping and we would bring them out very soon.”

He added also that Governor Bello is “the worst governor in the history of Kogi State.”

He also insisted that the governor had tried to kill him on several occasions.
