Eagles soar over Young Elephants

The Flying Eagles on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in a friendly in Abidjan.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria look very much solid to face any opponent in the forth-coming U-20 AFCON in Cote d’ivoire as the Eagles defeated the Young Elephants of Cote d’ivoire 2:0.
The game was a friendly game for the Flying Eagles in preparations for the U-2O AFCON.
Two players of Inspire FA of Lagos, Jimoh Farouq and Anthony Ezekiel came from the bench to help the Flying Eagles to a 2-0 victory against Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan.
The two players justified their place in the 21 man squad named by coach Zubairu Yusuf for the international friendly when they are called for action from the bench.
The game was tightly contested in the first half as it produced no goals.
The Nigeria team were tightly held down to a goalless draw by the Young Elephants in the keenly contested match through out the first half.
The introduction of Jimoh Farouq and Anthony Ezekiel in the second half changed the complexion of the game.
In the 62nd minute there was an infringement on Divine Oliseh that resulted in a Penalty for the Eagles.
Captain Daniel Bameyi made no mistake, as he converted from the spot in the 63rd minute.
In the 80th minute, Divine Olise put the ball at the back of the net, assisted by Babatunde Jimoh Faruq of Insipire FA.
The seven-time African champions who dominated the game cruised to a 2:0 victory over the Young Elephants to boost the confidence of the team ahead or the 2025 U20 African Cup of Nations, (U20 AFCON).
The Flying Eagles will face the Junior Elephants again on Friday as they continue to intensify their preparations ahead of the 2025 U20 AFCON due for Cote d’Ivoire in two months time, from 26th April – 18th May 2025.
