ECWA Church sends special security message to churches, head of schools across the country

Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State attacked by heavily armed gunmen

The Education Department of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) has sent a special security message to all branches of the church and head of schools across the country in a bid to curtail the raging spate of kidnapping, banditry, explosions, etc. that are now rampant in the nation.

This was contained in a statement titled “Special message to all our churches/ head of schools”, made available to News Band by Mr. David obadiah Joshua.

The message was released few days after heavily armed gunmen attacked a Catholic Church in Owo, Ogun State, killing dozens and leaving several others wounded.

According to the publication, ECWA Education Department considered it its duty to educate all on the state of terrorists activities in Nigeria.

In a long list of what to do, the publication stated among other things:

(1) We need fervent prayers but in addition to fervent prayers, please prioritize the safety/ security of your worshippers/students/pupils, etc. as much as humanly possible in every gathering.

(2) Specially train your guards on how to forestall man-made evil occurrences,

(3) If you have expert in your Church use the service of that person in helping members identify bomb detection and train them on how to detonate bombs.

(4) Examine all worshipers/strangers in schools including those who could have arrived earlier than the guards, (old & new) before entry at any point in time, trust no one but God alone

(5) Instal cctv camera all around. If you have the finances.

(6) Teach everyone to be security conscious at anytime.

(7) Kindly beef up security around your premises (workdays and non workdays) to guard against planting of explosives at odd hours.

(8) Restrict people’s movement in and out of your premises and spare no one to be carefully examined; trust no one.

(9) Pay particular attention to crowded areas in your premises, examine everything around such spots (ground/ floor, roof, wall, bags, etc.

(10) Anytime your pupils/ students/ staff members are gathered, keep them from being easily joined by strangers,

(11) Don’t allow visitors to come and pray/ preach to them henceforth. They may come in the form of shepherds.

(12) Generally, don’t attend any public gatherings that do not concern you henceforth.

(13) Pray for divine protection for ECWA leaders (EE) and all ECWA members worldwide.
