Councillors of Etsako East Local Government Area in Edo State have publicly rejected rumors suggesting an impeachment plot against their chairman, Hon. Benedicta Attoh.

The councillors, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Solomon Oghuma, during an interaction with Diaspora digital media (DDM) corespondents expressed their firm support for Attoh, emphasizing that no amount of coercion or incentive would sway their loyalty.

They described her as a compassionate and caring leader dedicated to improving the lives of the people, particularly in terms of human welfare.

The councillors made this declaration during a solidarity visit to Attoh’s home in Okpekpe, where they each took turns praising her leadership.

They reiterated their unwavering support, with several councillors stating, “We want our Chairman to be reinstated so she can continue to serve humanity.”

They also issued a warning against actions that could undermine democracy in the state, pledging their continued loyalty and backing for Attoh’s leadership.

Attoh, according to the councillors, has been a mother figure and an effective leader, making tangible improvements through her welfare programs, which have significantly impacted the community.

In her response, Chairman Attoh expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the councillors and the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their solidarity.

She remarked that a leader’s strength lies in their followers and emphasized the harmonious relationship that exists between the councillors, supervisors, civil servants, and other stakeholders in the local government.

Attoh appealed directly to the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, urging him to reconsider his decision regarding the suspension of local government chairmen.

She underscored that there was no need to create unnecessary tension or division within the state.

Attoh pointed out that Governor Okpebholo, as the father of the state, should listen to their plea, especially as she had never wronged him or acted against the state’s interests.

She expressed confidence that, given his reputation for peace and unity, the governor would reconsider his stance and reinstate the suspended chairmen.

She emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and working together for the collective good of the people of Edo State.

The chairman also acknowledged that, ultimately, it is God who holds the final authority, and she expressed faith that the governor would come to a resolution that would allow all parties to continue serving the people without fostering further disunity.

Attoh’s message highlighted the importance of peace, understanding, and collaborative efforts in moving Edo State forward, and she reiterated her readiness to work alongside the governor to achieve shared goals.
