In the meantime, though, massive defection has been experienced in Edo state as thousands of Social Democratic Party (SDP) members have reportedly defected to PDP.

According to the former SDP members, Edo PDP candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu is the man under whose leadership Edo state will come to flourish.

One of the SDP leaders is a former National Assembly member representing Etsako federal constituency, Alhaji Abubakar Momoh.

Momoh said: “We decided to join the PDP because it has a candidate that will help Edo State get out of where it is today which is not comfortable.

“That candidate is a person who I believe will help to move Edo forward.”

He said his faith in the PDP and its candidate stems from the fact that he has known the candidate since 1987.

“If he becomes the governor of Edo State, he is a man I honestly believe is the right person for the job.

“Why I think he is the right man is because he is a man of truth; he will not make empty promises”, he added.
