A heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves across Egypt as a mother allegedly strangled her three children in their sleep.

According to local reports, the tragedy occurred in the early hours of Saturday in Ezbet El Mantawi, a small community within the Kafr Hamza area of Khanka, located in Egypt.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Suzan, carried out the horrific act before preparing Suhoor for her husband.

Reports indicate that Suzan targeted her  children one after the other while they slept.

The victims Shahd 12, Mahmoud 7, and Aya 5 had just finished their pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) when their mother allegedly took their lives.

Neighbors who spoke to the press described the family as peaceful, saying there had never been any sign of trouble in the household.

Security operatives say Suzan showed no sign of remorse or distress after the incident.

She reportedly continued with her daily routine and even prepared Suhoor for her husband, who was unaware of what had just happened.

It was not until later that the horrifying truth was uncovered.

Suzan’s husband, who reportedly discovered the crime hours later, immediately alerted the authorities.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and arrested Suzan, while her husband was also taken into custody for questioning.

The Egyptian authorities have now launched a full investigation into the matter.

Sources say Suzan may have been suffering from an undiagnosed mental illness, which could have influenced her actions.

Forensic experts have taken the bodies of the three children for autopsy, while psychological evaluations are set to be carried out on the suspect.

The tragic incident has sparked nationwide discussions on the importance of mental health awareness.

Many Egyptians are calling for better mental health support systems, particularly for parents dealing with emotional and psychological stress.

Social media platforms have been flooded with comments from citizens expressing their grief and disbelief.

Some are demanding that authorities uncover all possible motives behind the killings, while others insist that justice must be served.

“This is beyond shocking. How can a mother take the lives of her own children in such a cruel manner?” a concerned resident wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, experts warn that untreated mental health conditions could lead to such tragic outcomes.

A leading psychologist in Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, stressed the need for more public education on mental health.

“In many societies, mental illness is still not taken seriously. Cases like this show us why we must act fast,” he said.

Authorities have assured the public of a thorough investigation.

Suzan is expected to undergo multiple psychiatric evaluations to determine her mental state at the time of the crime.

Depending on the findings, she could face serious legal consequences, including life imprisonment or even the death penalty under Egyptian law.

For now, the community remains in mourning as they struggle to comprehend how such a tragedy could unfold within their midst.

As the investigation continues, many hope that justice will be served, and that more attention will be given to mental health issues to prevent similar incidents in the future.
