Former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni, has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later the Social Democratic Congress (SDP) five years ago.

Oni, who governed Ekiti State from 2007 to 2010 on the PDP platform, was the SDP governorship candidate in the 2022 election, coming second behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

He registered with the APC at his country home in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ido/Osi local government area, amidst jubilation from supporters.

Oni stated that his return was a homecoming and a decision taken in the interest of Ekiti people, aiming to strengthen peace, unity, and development in the state.

The APC Coordinator, Gold Adesola Adedayo, welcomed Oni, saying his return would boost the party’s e-registration drive and strengthen the APC ahead of the June 20, 2026, governorship election.

Adedayo noted Oni’s strong grassroots appeal and respected status would attract more people to the APC.
