In a move to support women in small-scale businesses, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu donated N50 million to Kaduna State.
This initiative, presented on Monday at the Umaru Yar’Adua Conference Centre, aims to empower 1,000 women entrepreneurs.
Oluremi Tinubu actively handed the donation to Hafsat Uba Sani, who serves as the First Lady of Kaduna State.
Consequently, she also coordinates the Renewed Hope Initiative within the state.
. Each beneficiary is set to receive N50,000 to sustain and expand their businesses.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized her commitment to economic empowerment and healthcare improvement.
She also announced the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives across the north-west region.
The kits, which include scrubs and pairs of Crocs, were donated by an anonymous global partner.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to retrain 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide,” Oluremi stated.
She announced that the north-central region received its allocation earlier this year, while the south-south region will follow next.
Since its launch in 2023, the Renewed Hope Initiative has actively prioritized interventions in agriculture, economic empowerment, and education.
Additionally, it focuses on health and social welfare to enhance the overall well-being of the community.
Additionally, the First Lady reaffirmed her dedication to these causes, emphasizing grassroots support’s importance in achieving national development goals. Meanwhile, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State commended the First Lady’s efforts and described the donation as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving healthcare and women’s welfare.
Moreover, he highlighted the critical role midwives and nurses play in providing care at the community level, expressing gratitude for the professional kits as a valuable resource.
The governor also outlined ongoing efforts to strengthen Kaduna’s healthcare sector. These include the recruitment of 100 ad-hoc midwives and the upgrade of 290 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) with modern equipment. Additionally, plans are underway to elevate 255 PHCs to level-two status, while construction is ongoing for 143 new facilities across the state.
The event underscored a collaborative approach to addressing economic and healthcare challenges, with both federal and state initiatives working in tandem to improve the lives of Nigerians at the grassroots level.
