Popular rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has publicly called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign following the abduction of students from a school in Niger State.
Diaspora Digital Media reported that armed assailants stormed St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, in the early hours of November 21, abducting dozens of students and staff.
Security agencies, including tactical units and the military, have launched an ongoing operation to rescue the victims and comb nearby forests.
The Niger State Government has also criticised the school for resuming activities without clearance, despite prior security warnings about elevated threats in the area.
Officials described the incident as “deeply saddening and avoidable.”
Reacting on social media, Falz condemned the attack and demanded accountability. In a post on his verified account, he wrote:
“You have failed woefully @officialABAT. Tender your resignation now!”
The incident comes amid a disturbing wave of attacks on schools and rural communities across northern Nigeria, highlighting the continued mobility of terrorists despite ongoing military operations.
Authorities have yet to release the confirmed number of abducted victims.
